Book Review: ‘Heavy Metal Fun Time Activity Book’
Worshipping the devil while banging your head is usually serious business, but not in this case. “,” the latest kid-themed, kitchy installment from Aye Jay Morano, author of “Gangsta Rap Coloring Book” and “Indie Rock Connect the Dots,” gives metalliterates a chance to connect the moles on Lemme from Motorhead’s face, unscramble the names of Mike Patton’s numerous bands, and match up the “Decline of the Western Civilization Part II” quotes to the rockers who said them (hint: Chris Holmes from W.A.S.P. really likes to drink). Party animal Andrew W.K. provides the forward (shocker: it isn’t about partying), and Morano’s drawings, word games and puzzles will give dirtheads a good laugh, while also letting them flex their mental metal abilities. Murano’s books are always a hoot, mostly because of the affectionate way they are put together. From the cover art to the forwards, Aye Jay pokes fun at the genres he loves in a playful manner. And so what if the books are kind of a one-trick pony, so is AC/DC.
