These Posters Bite

First, the poster for Alan Ball’s new HBO vampire show was released.

A few days later, the one-sheet for the Diablo Cody-penned horror flick “Jennifer’s Body” came out.

But the inspiration for both could have come from the artwork of Sas Christian, and in particular, the 2007 work called “M.” If you the crop out the same part of the woman’s face, the three images are pretty identical. Sas has been painting porcelain-faced women almost exclusively for nearly a decade now, and her work is perfectly suited to capture the vulnerable beauty of the modern woman.

No matter the inspiration, both posters, and the work of Ms. Christian, are quite striking, and really, any movie-related image featuring a prominent pair of blood-red lips owes some debt of gratitude to the iconic poster imagery of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”
