There’s No Business Like Shoe Business
It may have been NOFX who titled their 1997 album “So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes,” but they remain one of the few bands NOT to have any officially licensed footwear. T-shirts, hats and hoodies have long been the lifeblood of touring rock bands, but lately it seems there’s a new trend in wearable rock gear: the sneaker.
Rock fans have long sported their favorite band’s logo across their chest, so why not hit the street with some kickass kicks on your feet? As well, it can be a particularly effective marketing tool since you’re way more likely to wear the same pair of shoes everyday than you are the same t-shirt.
And even Hollywood is catching on. A recent episode of HBO’s “Entourage” found Vince sporting a pair of Draven’s Misfits face off slip-ons through the entire episode. But enough of our yapping, let’s take a look at some of these suckers before we stick our foot in our mouth…
Converse’s Chuck Taylor All-stars are the most popular rock & roll shoe of all time. From punks to metalheads, these shoes have been sported by bands of all genres. But no one did more for Chucks than The Ramones, whose long career ensured the shoe would never go out of style. Like a great pair of Levis, these babies get better with age. And finally, with the band now defunct, there’s a fully-licensed version that’s part of the (RED) campaign:
The Misfits’ skull logo populates their pair of shoes from Draven:
Bad Religion has hightops from Vans:
Draven has included Green Day’s “American Idiot” grenade design on one of several pairs endorsed by the band:
Grunge pioneers The Melvins partnered with shoe pioneers Nike on these puppies:

The Circle Jerks slip-ons from Vans include graphics from their 1980 hardcore opus “Group Sex“:
What Eddie is to Iron Maiden, the nerdy glasses dude is to the Descendents. Not so surprisingly, he shows up on the band’s official pair of Vans:
Motorhead have two pair of skate shoes. There’s this collaboration with skater Geoff Rowley issued by Vans:
And this pair of similar kicks from Draven:
If you’re only going to release shoes endorsed by one band, you may as well make it the Clash. These are from Globe:
Rise Against are too busy rocking to need laces:
Tom DeLonge, ex-Blink-182 guitarist and current Angels & Airwaves frontman owns Macbeth, which produced this pair:
Here’s a pair of Dravens featuring The Adicts:
And another featuring the Slipknot logo:
Juliette Lewis and her band The Licks sport this signature model from DVS:
Apparently rock & roll shoes aren’t just for bands, as this pair of shoes by guitar maker Fender proves.
AFI has these Vans:
