DeLonge vs. Flowers: Rock’s Lamest Feud?
9.16.2005: Of his new band, Angels & Airwaves‘ debut album, ex-Blink-182 guitarist/singer Tom DeLonge says, “Best fucking album anybody has heard in 20 years.”
10.3.2006: One year later, Brandon Flowers of The Killers tells MTV that his band’s album “Sam’s Town” is, “One of the best albums in the past 20 years.”
10.18.2006: DeLonge accuses Flowers of stealing his line. “He must have heard that I said that first, right?”
10.18.2006: Jim Adkins of Jimmy Eat World sums up the foolishness by boasting of his band’s recording process: “I have to say, we are making the best album anyone has heard in 21 years.”
And let’s not forget DeLonge’s other recent ridiculousness. During a guest stint as a DJ on San Diego radio station 91X, DeLonge came clean about his feelings on the 9/11 attacks: “The [World Trade Center] came down in a fashion similar to a controlled demolition … and the expertise that is needed to fly those gigantic planes into that exact location could never have been achieved by someone who just learned how to fly a small plane.”
