Gobble Gobble

With the Thanksgiving holiday upon us, we decided it would be appropriate to give a public shout out to all the people and things that have brought us so much joy over the past twelve months. Without these things, our lives would have been undoubtedly riddled with sadness, depression, and loads upon loads of free time. After all, we are what we consume. And consume we have. So without further ado, ten things we are thankful for in the aught five:

  • The loyal YuppiePunk.org readers. Without you we would be a never-read blip on the pop culture radar, but because of you, we are an infrequently-read blip on the pop culture radar.

  • All of the websites in our sidebar. Thank you oh mighty webmasters for the hours and hours of intellectual stimulation and celebrity nudity. You have been wonderful neighbors.
  • New issues of Found and Dirty Found. You have kept our inner voyeur very, very happy.
  • Gwen Stefani for finally succumbing to peer pressure and exposing her nipple to the paparazzi (NSFW).
  • Paris Hilton, Mischa Barton, et al for dating ratty-looking everyman slobs. Only dating a blogger would make us happier.
  • New albums from Sufjan Stevens, New Pornographers, Denison Witmer, Sun Kil Moon, and more of our favorite artists. Your sweet, sweet sounds make the cold, cruel world seem just a little bit warmer.
  • Fergie of the Black-Eyed Peas for both singing the most irritating song of the year (“My Humps”) and for pissing herself on stage. Golden showers: no longer taboo for pop stars.
  • Season two of “Laguna Beach,” the unscripted drama about a wealthy SoCal beach town inhabited by promiscuous attractive teens in skimpy bikinis. What’s not to be thankful for?
  • Alan Ball for making the series finale of “Six Feet Under” so darn good, and for crafting a fitting final montage featuring Sia’s under appreciated gem “Breathe Me.”
  • Carrot Top’s muscles. We still can’t believe these images aren’t photoshopped.

Happy Turkey Day!
