Fuck! Get That Fucking Thing Out of My Fucking Face
The hard drive on the TiVo here at YuppiePunk World HQ has just had a new season pass added to it: “Hollywood Snappers.” Despite sounding like the title of a long lost album from The Donnas, the half hour VH1 reality series trails the paparazzi employed at the Bauer-Griffin agency as they hunt for A-list celebs. The show is the perfect companion to those salacious gossip blogs you devour daily. At long last, the stories behind all those long lens photos are finally revealed. You also get an interesting insight into which celeb shots are worth lots of dough, which ones aren’t, and why. Fave moments from the series thus far: The way Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow pull up next to the stalkerazzi that trails them and simply stare him down without saying a word; The way Simon Cowell politely asks the Bauer-Griffin team not to follow him as he hunts for houses with his girlfriend, but rather to accompany him to a quiet side street where he can pose for their cameras in private before getting on with his afternoon. That Simon, he’s a smart one.
There was a similar show on deep cable last year (if you know the name of it, will you email us or leave it in the comments pleeeze?), but it seemed to disappear faster than the Twinkies in Janet Jackson’s pantry. This paparazzi show is slicker and more interesting anyhow. It’s essentially the video equivalent of the photos they shoot: intriguing, voyeuristic, and frivolous, yet you can’t manage to change the channel as they speed thru Los Angeles hopping fences and renting helicopters to land the exclusive shots no one else can. The show airs on VH1, and you can check the website for exact days and times.
