As we watched the new Kevin Bacon-as-pedophile flick “The Woodsman” this week, we were reminded of the lovely Kyra Sedgwick, who also stars in the film. Kyra first grabbed our attention in Cameron Crowe’s grungy love story “Singles,” and since the early ’90s seems to show up in a decent flick every few years. Of late, another lovely Keira, this one British, has warmed our cockles. Keira Knightley (who, for the record, can warm anything she’d like) was good with balls in “Bend It Like Beckham” and wore a tight corset in “Pirates of the Caribbean.” The British Keira isn’t married to Kevin Bacon (if she was, ewww!) and the American Kyra didn’t do her first nude scene at the age of 16 (if she did, yowza!), but both ladies are skilled actresses we always enjoy watching. Other (not very) famous Kira/Kyra/Keiras include CNN anchor Kyra Phillips, Commanding officer Kira Nerys from “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” oh, and let’s not forget Mr. Mister’s 1986 American hit, “Kyrie.”
