MSNBC’s Alex Witt Has a Band
As far as we know, Alex Witt is the only national newscaster who moonlights as a country-rock singer (though we think Wolf Blitzer could front a kickass Michael McDonald tribute). She has a band, Mrs. Robinson, with a pair of forties-ish suburban soccer moms like herself, who are a sort of Dixie Chicks-lite (is that even possible?). They’re not terrible — and truth be told, could probably be made to sound like Avril Lavigne (or at least Ashlee Simpson) if they nabbed a big record company advance and got either of the Butches to produce their record. But that probably won’t happen, because, well, they’re like forties-ish and playing country-rock.
Somehow, they managed to book a gig on Don Imus’ now-defunct MSNBC talk show. Wonder how they finagled that. Though come to think of it, Imus is to broadcasting what Clive Davis is to… broadcasting. Take note Thirty Odd Foot of Grunts, there’s a new poorly-named celebrity band in town.
